Graduate student Yi-wen gets on the wrong train and meets a former classmate from her past, Wei-chiang, who is now a university lecturer. The two alight together at the same station when they both find themselves having boarded the metro headed for the wrong direction. The two end up going to dinner and bumble about in awkward, fair-weather catching up when they both realise something about themselves that they have never openly admitted over the years.

The publisher urged her to write her seventh novel, but she had no romantic relationship before and was not good at writing. An Ling got what she wanted, but she didn’t know how to handle the conflicting feelings she had deep inside. I always wanted it to be completely engraved with my personal imprint and represent all my style preferences. In Southern Beijing, a father and his son who relied on each other were struggling to live, and two daughters wanted to seize their father's retirement expenses for their own personal gain. And misfortunes came one after another. The 60-year-old demented son was deliberately abandoned by his brother-in-law, and the young tenant went astray for so-called love. Life was getting tougher. In the constant struggles, the 90-year-old father felt hard to bear the burden of life, and wanted to end his life with pesticides with his son. The film ends here and leaves the suspense, in which the cold-bloodedness and fetters of kinship are vividly displayed. The feeling of powerlessness goes straight to the hearts through screen. Two people’s lifetime adding up to 150 years come to an abrupt end.

This story happens in the southern part of Beijing. Lee, the motor-taxi driver's and his family live in a dilapidated tenement yard. His disobliging sister always asks him for the relocation of the tenement yard and urges her brother's family to repay the money. Kai's classmate, named Er Dong, a bad boy whose father is the lecherous principal, frames a case against Kai that he had stolen the monitor's cell phone. The teacher always looks upon on Kai, he denounces Kai without any investigation and gives a slap on Kai's face. Kai hit the teacher with a brick in great impulsion and the principal dismissed Kai. Because of this, Lee has to beg the principal for retraining the punishment on Kai, besides, Lee has to offer a bribe for his son. At last, grandpa passed away quietly, lee was arrested by the police because of the prostitute's tip-offs. Kai stands lonely on the rooftop of his dilapidated house, sees the blinding sunlight and hears the cockcrow......
