Atmospheric River Rats

Inspired by British mountain bike movies like "A Slice of British Pie", "Tea and Biscuits" and 50to01 vids, we set out to make a mountain bike movie in our town Bellingham, Washington. The key difference being that we wanted to avoid filming only "pro" riders and instead wanted to capture a diverse range of skill levels. The winter of 2021/22 was especially wet in Bellingham with the "atmospheric river" bringing in especially foul conditions. Most self respecting mountain bikers would have hung up their helmet for the season but many of our local river rats continued on with their trail building and riding. Despite mud, grit, snow, hail and torrential rain our local riders were still out there. Capturing these creatures in their natural habitat was our goal. We proudly present to "Atmospheric River Rats" a Bellingham community mountain bike movie.

Slaying the Badger

Fabian Cancellara is one of the greatest Classics riders ever, with three Tour of Flanders wins and three editions of Paris-Roubaix to his name. He also won the world time trial championships four times and took eight stage victories at the Tour de France, wearing the yellow jersey for a total of 29 days. He hung up his wheels in 2016, after claiming his second Olympic gold medal. "Reverence – A Journey Into Fear" is a full length mountain bike film that delves deep into the psyche of elite Mountain Bike Superstars on a quest to understand what motivates them to tirelessly to lay down their legacy. Our featured athletes are defined by their fans as they stand in awe of their continuous and staggering accomplishment riding their bikes. Through the timeline of the film we will take the viewer on a journey showing where each athlete’s fears originate from, how their fears got implanted into their psyche and what they do to manage through their fears to accomplish the unthinkable to be revered by all that are thunderstruck by their riding.
