On the frontline is the Greek island of Lesvos – the first point of entry into Europe for over half of the refugees. One week at the end of August 2015 marked a tipping point in the crisis. More refugees arrived than ever before, volunteers were inundated and local infrastructure just couldn’t cope; trains were overflowing, refugees were dying in the back of lorries and on beaches, and politicians responded by closing borders and arguing about how to stem the tide of people. Filmed over just five days, this first-hand account of that dramatic week on Lesvos is seen through the eyes of the refugees and volunteers caught in the crisis.

The Remandee
2020
William has been remanded for 2 years in Lusaka Central Prison, awaiting conviction in a case in which he is charged with car theft and murder. After losing touch with his wife and daughter six months ago, he is now deeply concerned about his daughter's safety. Prison counselor Hastings arranges a meeting between William and his wife Mutinta. She has secretly remarried, but William is convinced that true love never fades away and tries to win her back. Given his undecided fate in prison and the uncertainty of his future William is eventually forced to make a tough decision: choosing between a tempting secret affair with his ex-wife that sets her new marriage and the daughter's well-being at risk or the safety of their child.

Hippo Hell

The dry season is always a struggle for the animals in the in the Luangwa Valley in Zambia - forced to share the last remaining water in the river. This is most strongly felt by the hippo population as they continually need to submerge their overheating bodies. This year the low river will be the least of their worries: An unseen killer is waiting to attack. The congested river and extreme circumstances provide the perfect conditions for an Anthrax epidemic to strike. Before the return of the rains the dominant hippo bull will witness the devastation of a fifth of his pod.
