Worricker soon learns the extent of their shady activities and he must act quickly to survive when links to British prime minister Alec Beasley come to light.

The story begins when Fred, after following clues that point to a murderer named Alan, receives a mysterious call upon arriving at a house and realizes that a woman has been murdered. Driven by tragedy, Fred tracks down Alan and confronts him. However, the attempt at justice ends in tragedy: The calculating criminal kills Fred. It all ends with Alan walking away down the street unpunished.
