The film's protagonist, Jari, escapes from army boot camp and hides from his demanding father and the rest of the world in the safest place he knows. The bullying sergeant is left behind, but does that make life any easier? Teppo, the village oddball, agrees to help Jari, but he is also struggling with his own frightening demons.

In warm May, a large dark cloud is looming over HWAPYONG Restaurant, the home and everything of this ordinary family of Cheol-soo, in the middle of Gwangju.
