After the news of the sale of the house where we lived for the last 15 years and its imminent demolition, I felt the need to revisit my story, marked by a violent childhood. Digging into the personal archives that I started filming at the age of 19, I discover that my life was very similar to my mothers and I decide to start a dialogue with her, in the hope of healing a shared wound.

The Agony and the Ecstasy

Lolek, A Vida de São João Paulo II no Teatro Lauro Gomes

Live performance of the musical presented in 2014 at Teatro Lauro Gomes in São Bernardo do Campo. Karol, affectionately called Lolek by his closest relatives and friends, is a young Polish theater actor, passionate about art. After the death of his father during the Second World War, his life underwent a drastic change. When he receives a book from a simple tailor, he is awakened by the desire to become a priest in the midst of Nazism, in a country devastated by war. Between the clandestine seminary, the fun ladies who help him, his curious students and, later, the fight against communism, the world will get to know the man who became the most famous Pope of all time.

Tannhäuser and the Singers' Contest at Wartburg Castle

TANNHÄUSER UND DER SÄNGERKRIEG AUF WARTBURG is a grand opera by Richard Wagner in three acts. After experiencing boundless sensuality and freedom with the fun-loving Venus (soprano), the singer Tannhäuser (Tenor) finds it impossible to conform to the cultured setting of his betrothed Elizabeth (soprano), who loves him. During a singing contest, Tannhäuser describes the affair with Venus as the ultimate love experience and because of that, he is cast out from the established society. Thanks to Elizabeth's intervention, he is allowed to undertake a pilgrimage to the Pope to ask for the Holy Father's pardon. If the Pope accepts to forgive him, he would be allowed to take back his place in society. Tannhäuser accepts. But fate will not allow him to meet with his beloved Elizabeth again in this life. That simple gesture sets off an emotional journey through Montevideo, highlighting different corners of the city while celebrating the value of gathering, friendship, and the small traditions that bring people together. The short film emphasizes that what truly matters isn’t the gift, but the chance to be together again.
