Now the people of means flee the more remote reaches of the Road for the suburbs. Who remains along this once heavily travelled highway? Who slaves for the mining companies today? Filmmaker Nic Hofmeyr takes to the road to meet them. South Africa's history echoes in their stories, and in the very landscape.

In the wake of one of the worst social experiments in the history of mankind, 'I'm not Black, I'm Coloured' is one of the first documentary films to look at the legacy of Apartheid from the viewpoint of the Cape Coloured. A people who in 1994, embraced the concept of Desmond Tutu's all encompassing 'rainbow nation', but soon thereafter realized that freedom, privilege, economic growth and equality would not include them. A people who for more than 350 years has been disregarded, ignored, belittled, and stripped of anything they can call their own enduring a complex psychological oppression and identity crisis unparalleled in South African history.

The A45 was the most beautiful highway in Germany. But almost 50 years after its construction, the A45 has become the country's biggest problem child. For the people of Sauerland and Siegerland, the A45 was a road of hope - the starting signal for the economic region of South Westphalia. A place of longing and a destination for drives. Since December 2, 2021, 3 p.m., nothing in Lüdenscheid has been the same. The big problem: there is no hope of improvement in the short term. Since spring 2022, it has been clear that the highway closure will last for years.
