Through testimonies of women who have been subjected to violence, the documentary reveals that, despite legal achievements, the woman still remains vulnerable. Amongst other deponents are Maria da Penha, Joanna Maranhão, Luíza Brunet, and Clara Averbuck.

Convent

Thurgau, present day: For the anniversary of the Catholic convent of Tobel, the local TV station follows a community on the brink. Only two elderly nuns remain behind its walls, while overwhelmed civil servant Toni keeps things running. Secretly he hides Lee , a wanted hacktivist – rude, nerdy, and queer as fuck – beneath the convent walls. When Sister Hildegard dies and church and political authorities plan to turn the convent into a luxury yoga retreat, Scholastika fights back against patriarchal structures.

Religion is a tough subject for many in the LGBTQ community, and this piece is a reflection of the struggle and rejection we often feel. It tells the story of an individual troubled by the hate in the world and his partner who is fighting to lift him up, to remind him he is beautiful exactly how he is. My message is that religion should inspire more kindness and open arms, even towards those you may not understand.
