The film was shot over the course of 10 years and shows how Lola constructs her identity and her road as a singer. She is the architect of her life and her body. The film is narrated as a personal diary of her transformation, her feelings and the director's friendship with Lola.

Hers wasn't exactly, in the words of one of her famous songs, "La Vie En Rose," but it was quite a life.
