This is the story of one of Europe's biggest migrations; one of people fleeing poverty or persecution and hoping for a better life. German-speaking people descended the Rhine and Danube rivers, from the 17th century until the end of the First World War, and settled in America, Eastern Europe, Russia and Africa.

1. Into A New World (1618-1762)57m · Between 1618 and 1748, thousands of German-speaking people fled to North America and Eastern Europe to escape famine, disease and religious persecution. A huge refugee camp was established in London. European rulers began to compete for new settlers, making refugees a political weapon.
2. The Promised Lands (1750-1848)55m · By 1750, the Promised Land in North America had already attracted almost 100,000 German-speaking emigrants. Without money for the long crossing, new arrivals had to work as indentured servants, ending up in the Brazilian jungle or in the French colony of Algiers. A few decades later, German-speaking immigrants contributed to the industrialisation of the USA.
3. Between Two Worlds (1848-1933)55m · After the revolutions of 1848, one million Germans emigrated to the USA, but came under suspicion of espionage during the First World War. Brazil remained open to German immigration and the largest national group of the Nazi Part was formed there. Germany’s crimes during the Nazi period destroyed the relationship between host countries and their German-speaking population.More Like This

30 Days is a reality television show on the FX cable network in the United States, created and hosted by Morgan Spurlock. In each episode, Spurlock, or some other person or group of people, spend 30 days immersing themselves in a particular lifestyle with which they are unfamiliar, while discussing related social issues. As in Spurlock's film, Super Size Me, there are a number of rules unique to each situation which must be followed during each such experiment. At least one episode each season has featured Spurlock as the person spending the month in the particular lifestyle. Season one premiered on June 15, 2005, and its respective DVD set was released July 11, 2006. The second season premiered on July 26, 2006. Season 3 of 30 Days premiered on June 3, 2008. FX said on November 6 that it would not be renewing the series for a fourth season, effectively canceling the show. The show has recently been picked up for re-air by Planet Green, though no new episodes have been ordered. In the United Kingdom, the program is broadcast on More4 and Channel 4. In Australia, the program is broadcast on Network Ten and Lifestyle Channel. It currently airs in Canada on Independent Film Channel and Canal Vie. It also airs on FX in Latin America. In Norway it airs on TV 2. In Sweden it airs on TV4 and Kanal 9.
