Simon Reeve embarks on an extraordinary four-part journey around the Mediterranean, uncovering the wild extremes that lie behind the tourist veneer.

Episodes

1. Episode 1Simon visits Malta, whose economy is booming but is mired in controversy. Then Italy where he learns about the 'Ndrangheta but also turtle conservation. In Albania he is shocked by the culture of vendetta.

2. Episode 2On the second leg of his journey Simon explores Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel and Gaza. He goes on patrol with UN peacekeepers, discovers the roots of Christianity and crosses the most heavily fortified borders in the world.

3. Episode 3Simon travels to Libya, then heads west along North Africa's Mediterranean coast to Tunisia and finally by ferry to Sicily.

4. Episode 4On the fourth and final leg of his voyage Simon takes the ferry to Ceuta, the Spanish enclave surrounded by Morocco. He then travels along southern Spain and over to Corsica.
